Enrichment Programs

Learning Cube Academy is a preschool and pre-kindergarten facility that offers a loving and safe environment to nurture the overall development of young kids before their journey into elementary school. We offer enrichment programs for children 3-5 years of age when enrolled in a full-day program

The school schedule follows the Plano ISD calendar. Summer programs are offered separately.

Phonemic Awareness

  • Phonemic awareness means being able to hear, recognize, and work with the smallest parts of sounds (phonemes) in spoken words.
  • This skill is important for learning to read, understand words, and improve spelling.
  • Children first learn how sounds make up words before reading printed text.
  • In class, kids practice identifying and sorting individual sounds, blending sounds to form words, and changing sounds to create new words.

Phonics

  • Phonics teaches the connection between alphabet letters and the sounds they represent.
  • Children learn to recognize both uppercase and lowercase letters and their sounds through step-by-step lessons.
  • After learning sounds, kids combine letters to make words and join words to create sentences.
  • This program helps beginning readers become stronger and more confident.
  • As children grow, they learn advanced reading and reading comprehension skills.

Writing

  • Writing is an important way for children to express their thoughts and ideas.
  • Even at two years old, children start by drawing or making marks that represent their thinking.
  • This class helps children understand that print carries meaning and writing serves a purpose.
  • Children are guided step-by-step from simple scribbles to forming letter strings and making alphabets.
  • Advanced instruction teaches transitional writing, including spacing between words and handwriting skills.

STEAM

  • STEAM education combines Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math for a well-rounded learning experience.
  • The inclusion of Arts enhances creativity through activities like designing, drama, and speech.
  • This approach develops critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and artistic skills in children.
  • Engaging in STEAM activities prepares children for future challenges by encouraging innovation and collaboration
